Wilna de Villiers

CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT (SA) REGISTERED AUDITOR

Director, Wilna de Villiers, is based in the Pretoria office and has 12 years’ experience in the auditing, accounting and taxation environment. 

​Wilna qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2012 having studied at the University of Pretoria. She completed her articles at Moore Stephens (now Moore) in 2011 and was appointed as audit manager in 2012. 

​Wilna was appointed as partner at Moore Pretoria in 2014. Until 2020 Wilna was a Partner at Moore Pretoria and a member of Moore National Technical Committee as well as Moore National Training Committee. 

​In 2021 Wilna founded De Villiers & Associates, Chartered Accountants (SA) and Registered Auditors. The firm is now known as De Villiers Vermeulen.

Johan Vermeulen

CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT (SA) REGISTERED AUDITOR

Johan is based at the Cape Town Office. With 18-years of professional experience, over a decade of which at senior management level, Johan is a seasoned tax, finance and business professional, with expertise in serving both private and corporate clients. 

​After completing his articles at PWC in 2005, Johan joined Coris Capital (now Sanlam) as a Senior Financial Accountant, thereafter, being promoted to Fund Accounting Manager.  

In order to build exposure and meet new challenges, Johan joined Moore Stephens Cape Town Inc. in 2010 and was promoted to director in 2013.  

​Johan is experienced in new business development, business advisory, assurance, review and compilation engagements, tax and tax advisory engagements to both corporates and individuals, including tax consequences on corporate restructures, mergers and acquisitions, and BEE transactions.  

  After a brief stint in commerce, from July 2017 to the beginning of 2020, Johan returned to private practice and partnered with Wilna de Villiers in 2021.

Hein Maij

MASTERS TAX PRACTITIONER

Hein heads up the tax department from the Cape Town office. 

Hein has 25 years’ experience at the South African Revenue Service (SARS) as a Qualified Master Tax Auditor. He  specialises in assisting expats with their cessation of tax residency from South Africa as well as local tax compliance and dispute resolution. He has been in private practise since September 2015. 

​During his time at SARS he was a technical specialist in the audit department where he was responsible for reviewing audit files, technical assistance to auditors and tax auditing. His audit skills in Income Tax, Payroll Tax and Value Added Tax for both Individuals and Corporates resulted in his strong, multi-skilled technical ability. 

His years of experience at SARS gives him insight on how to resolve complex tax disputes as well as SARS procedures.
